Delta State Government Declares Non-Factory Fitted Tinted Glasses Illegal
As part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and enhance security across Delta State, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security, Engr. Emmanuel Udoka, has announced a crackdown on vehicles with non-factory fitted tinted glasses.
Engr. Udoka disclosed that the measure aligns with an executive order issued by the state government, which prohibits the use of tinted glasses that are not originally manufactured as part of the vehicle. He emphasized that the directive is aimed at ensuring public safety and minimizing criminal activities, particularly kidnapping, which has been on the rise in recent times.
“This executive order is targeted at vehicles with unauthorized tinted glasses that could potentially be used to conceal criminal activities. Factory-fitted tinted glasses are permitted, but any alteration to the original specifications of a vehicle will be considered an offense under this new directive,” Udoka stated.
The security aide further warned that security agencies have been directed to enforce this order with immediate effect. He urged vehicle owners and drivers to comply by removing unauthorized tints to avoid penalties.
“This initiative is not meant to inconvenience law-abiding citizens but to protect everyone in Delta State. We need the cooperation of all residents to achieve a safer environment,” he added.
The Delta State Government reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property while calling on the public to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
